Athens Airport sits on the eastern edge of Attica. The Riviera runs along the southwestern coast. The direct route between them bypasses the city center entirely, which means no downtown traffic, no unnecessary kilometres, and a noticeably shorter journey than going via Athens.

For the return trip to the airport, we recommend allowing extra time in July and August, the coastal road can slow down in the mornings. For flights before 10 AM, plan your pickup at least 90 minutes before departure. Tell us your flight time when you book and we'll work backwards from there.

Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" (ATH) is located in Spata, on the eastern edge of Attica, roughly 35 km from the city center and 40–70 km from most Riviera destinations, depending on where you're headed. The direct route south bypasses Athens entirely, making the airport-to-Riviera transfer notably more straightforward than it might appear on a map.
Many drivers default to the motorway into Athens and back out via the coastal road, adding unnecessary kilometres and time. The efficient route from the airport to the Riviera runs south via Vouliagmenis Avenue, cutting directly toward the coast without entering the city. In clear traffic, this saves 15–25 minutes compared to the city route. In summer peak hours, the difference is even greater.

About the transfer
Glyfada is around 35–45 minutes from the airport, Vouliagmeni 45–55 minutes, Varkiza 55–65 minutes, and Lagonissi or Saronida around 60–75 minutes. Summer traffic can add 15–20 minutes on the coastal road.
